The Los Angeles Lakers seem to have received some encouraging news on the status of Luka Doncic’s hamstring injury.

Doncic left the Lakers’ 119-115 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night with a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during the second quarter, and it left Doncic frustrated enough where he kicked a courtside advertisement display.

Though Doncic was visibly upset after hurting his hamstring, the injury may not be as bad as he feared.

ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin reported on Friday that there is some initial optimism that Doncic’s hamstring injury is not major.

Despite the initial good news, Doncic is not expected to play for the Lakers in their game against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. Doncic had 10 points in 16 minutes prior to exiting. He is averaging 32.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game this season. His points and assists averages lead the Lakers.

The Lakers are tied with the Houston Rockets for fourth in the West as both have 31-19 records.
