Lakers' Jersey Swap Before Wizards Game Draws Attention

A light moment at practice turned into a snapshot of the Los Angeles Lakers' growing chemistry ahead of their game against the Washington Wizards.

Jaxson Hayes, joking while posing as teammate Dalton Knecht, revealed that the entire roster swapped jerseys during practice when addressing the media.

"No one wore their jersey today at practice, out of the whole team. Everyone switched jerseys with somebody."

"We all just crazy."

This was not planned. It just happened on the fly, a sign of great locker room chemistry. And generally, that type of energy shows up in results, and the Lakers have backed it up on the court as of late.

Since February 27th, the Lakers have gone 14-2, the best record in the league over that stretch. They rank fifth in offensive rating, 10th in defensive rating, and sixth in net rating. This streak has pushed them from sixth in the Western Conference at 34-24 to third at 48-26.

That climb has created a gap for them. The Lakers now hold a 1.5 game lead over the Denver Nuggets, a three-game edge over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and a 3.5 game cushion over the Houston Rockets. And they hold the critical tiebreakers over all these three teams, which essentially gives them another game lead.

That being said, Luka Doncic is unavailable due to suspension after his 16th technical foul. Despite that absence, the Lakers still enter this matchup in a strong position.

They face the Wizards, one of the worst teams in the league, and they are playing at home, where they hold a 24-12 record. Plus, Austin Reaves and LeBron James lead an offense that has found rhythm, which should be more than enough.

The schedule tightens next as the Lakers face the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder after this. The Lakers will need Doncic at full strength for those games. For now, the focus stays on maintaining momentum, with chemistry playing a clear role in their rise.
