Jrue Holiday and the Boston Celtics are currently competing in the NBA playoffs, matching up against the New York Knicks in the second round.

The Celtics are currently down 0-2 in the second-round series. Before finding themselves in a deep hole against the Knicks, they defeated the Orlando Magic in the first round.

During the playoffs, the NBA announced a major accomplishment by Holiday.

The Celtics guard has been named the Social Justice Champion. After the NBA announced the news, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sent a message to Holiday.

"Just want to say how proud I am of @Jrue_Holiday11 for their effort he has continually made to his community," Abdul-Jabbar said. "Congrats on making the captains list."

The NBA shared the initial news, mentioning that Jrue Holiday and his wife Lauren Holiday have helped donate $100K in efforts to drive economic empowerment.

"Holiday will receive the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy for his efforts to drive economic empowerment through philanthropy and creative capital deployment. $100K to be donated to the Jrue and Lauren Social Impact Fund (JLH fund)," posted the official social media account of the NBA.

While the NBA has highlighted Holiday's efforts off the court, he's also had another solid year for the Celtics between the white lines.

Throughout the season, Holiday has averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

He's been a solid role player for the Celtics in their hunt to win back-to-back NBA titles, playing behind a few stars such as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
