The Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up for the start of a new NBA season.

After losing in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of last season’s playoffs, Luka Doncic and LeBron James are looking to go further this time around.

The Lakers will be without James for the start of the season as he recovers from a sciatica on the right side. But James isn't the only player dealing with an injury.

On Monday, Lakers coach JJ Redick revealed that Chris Mañon is likely going to miss the remainder of the preseason. Mañon is recovering from a grade 2 ankle sprain.

The Lakers have three more games left in the preseason before their first game on Oct. 21 against the Golden State Warriors. Mañon will miss L.A.'s meeting with the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings before then.

Mañon went undrafted in June and signed with the Lakers as a free agent.

The 6-foot-5 guard played his college basketball at Vanderbilt and is on a two-way contract with the Lakers.

Mañon has yet to play in any of the Lakers' three preseason games so far but was a standout in the Summer League for Golden State.
