Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, was drafted 55th overall in the 2024 NBA draft. Spending one season at USC, James joined his father on the Lakers.

Appearing in 24 games for Los Angeles this season, James has averaged 2.3 points in 5.7 minutes per contest. That said, the 6-foot-3 guard has found much more success in the G League where he made 11 regular season appearances for the South Bay Lakers. In those games, James averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists (via G League Stats).

With the G League season over, James will remain with the NBA team for the remainder of the year.

Los Angeles is facing the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night in the front half of a back-to-back. The Lakers will play the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center on Wednesday.

Ahead of their game in OKC, the Lakers listed Bronny James as questionable with an illness. The team has since announced the unfortunate news via their official injury report that he has been downgraded to out.

This news is especially unfortunate for James, because assuming the Lakers end up sitting multiple rotation players in this game, he could have received extended minutes. James appeared in LA's last contest, scoring three points in two minutes against OKC on Sunday.

Just two appearances removed from a career-high 17 points against the Milwaukee Bucks last month, James has shown flashes of ability at the NBA level when given extended minutes. Unfortunately for him, an illness has removed the opportunity to do that again on Tuesday.
