A judge has now ordered Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball to turn over his text messages and prescription drug records as part of an ongoing civil lawsuit rooting from an alleged incident in 2023, according to court documents.

In 2024, Tamaria McRae filed a civil lawsuit against ball for allegedly running over her then-11-year-old son’s foot while driving away after a scrimmage at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center in October 2023.

The lawsuit alleges that Ball ran over the foot of her son, Angell Joseph, before driving away. Prosecutors are asking for these records to be turned over as part of discovery, saying they will paint a picture of his condition at the time of the incident while determining if he had any knowledge of the event.

Ball’s legal team previously fought against releasing these records, citing his prescription records as sensitive medical information.

But a Mecklenburg County judge has now ordered them to turn over both his messages from that day and his prescription records for the year leading up to the incident.

No further court dates have been confirmed as the lawsuit is still ongoing.
