For the first time in a long time, LeBron James genuinely sounds unsure about what comes next.
Speaking with Steve Nash on the Mind The Game podcast, James acknowledged he still has not decided whether he plans to continue playing, remain with the Lakers, or potentially finish his career elsewhere.
“I’m still in the moment of just taking my time,” James said. “I understand that I’m a free agent and I can control my own destiny.”
LeBron added that he has not even taken his family vacation yet and likely will not seriously think through his future until later this summer as free agency approaches.
James repeatedly emphasized two major priorities: Winning and family.
“You don’t want to take steps backward,” he said, while also noting that his wife and children will heavily influence whatever decision ultimately gets made.
That part matters because leaguewide speculation around LeBron has already exploded.

The Cavaliers, Warriors and even the Clippers have surfaced in various rumors. Cleveland chatter especially intensified after LeBron recently liked a social media post encouraging him to “come home” again.
Meanwhile, the Lakers still appear focused on building around Luka Doncic moving forward, creating even more questions about how LeBron fits long-term.
But James insists there is no rush at the moment. And until he officially decides otherwise, every contender in basketball will probably keep watching closely.
