The Los Angeles Lakers made waves in their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets by clinching three straight victories, all while missing their star players Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. LeBron James and the squad rose to the occasion, showcasing impressive performances, but they fell short of achieving a 4-0 sweep on Sunday night.
Game 4 between the Lakers and Rockets took a more intense turn in the second half. Deandre Ayton faced ejection in the third quarter after receiving a Flagrant 2 for throwing an elbow at Alperen Sengun while attempting to block.
Moments later, with just 1:10 left on the clock, Aaron Holiday collided with Lakers’ rookie Adou Thiero in the paint. The two exchanged words, leading to a heated altercation that resulted in both being ejected. In the post-game press conference, James voiced his frustration over Thiero’s ejection, calling out the officiating and emphasizing the impact of such calls on the game.
“I’m more pissed off about them kicking Adou out. That was uncalled for and it made no sense. Think that’s his first time he’s ever been thrown out of a game in his life. I don’t think that was warranted,” James said.

The team’s underperformance and the ejections led to a 96-115 loss for the Lakers.
James tied for the third-lowest scoring playoff game of his career during the Game 4 loss to the Rockets. The King, who logged 33 minutes on the court, managed to put up just 10 points, alongside nine assists and four rebounds. However, his eight turnovers have left Lakers fans raising their eyebrows. After the game, in the post-game presser, James took the blame on himself for the loss.
“It started with me, obviously. My turnovers were unacceptable,” James said (via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin)/

The Rockets were without their star player, Kevin Durant, but still managed to secure the win. The Lakers are currently 3-1 in the series, and they need one win to advance to round 2. Game 5 of the series will tip off at 10:00 PM EDT on 29th April at Crypto.com Arena.
