LeBron James not waiting on Anthony Davis, per insider

With rumors continuing to surround LeBron James regarding his free agency decision this offseason, there has been some speculation about whether the star is waiting for another big news item to drop, like with Washington Wizards’ Anthony Davis. As fans await any free agency updates with James, this NBA insider sets the record straight on where the choice stands.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, Shams Charania would reiterate that “there’s nothing left” to report on James’ decision and that he has all the information needed to make a decision. Plus, Charania would shoot down any notion of James waiting for Davis, saying that they are “not waiting for another domino right now.”

“Now that we’re 20 days in, there’s nothing left. The teams are the teams. The information’s the information,” Charania said. “LeBron has everything he needs to make a decision. The conversations have happened. They’re not, from my understanding, my sources tell me LeBron James, his agent, Rich Paul, are not waiting for another domino right now. They’re not waiting for Anthony Davis to get traded anywhere.”

The message from LeBron James to interested teams that hasn’t been sent

Charania would continue talking about James’ decision that is sure to come sooner rather than later, further saying that a specific “message” from his representation to teams of interest to make a coinciding move hasn’t been sent.

“This is going to be based on happiness in terms of chance to contend for a championship, a chance to compete at a high level, join a culture,” Charania said. “If during the first week of July, LeBron James and Rich Paul told the Heat or the Cavs or the Warriors. ‘Hey, we need you to do this, and we’re coming.’ Those teams might have done that, but that message was not delivered, and so you just kind of have to read between the lines. If you’re some of these teams, you need to figure it out.”

It remains to be seen when James will make his decision and which team he’ll play for in his 23rd NBA season.
