LeBron James Trolls Doug Gottlieb After Disastrous First Year as Green Bay's Head Coach

It’s safe to say that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has kept receipts on Fox Sports analyst and Green Bay Phoenix head coach Doug Gottlieb.

Gottlieb is in his first season as Green Bay’s head coach, and in a rare move, he’s continued his role at Fox Sports, hosting “The Doug Gottlieb Show.”

However, Gottlieb’s first season as head coach has been far from smooth. Green Bay finally secured their third win of the season on Sunday — after a brutal stretch of nearly three months without a victory. The team now sits at 3-24 and ranks 11th in the Horizon League standings.

On Monday, James took a moment to highlight Gottlieb’s struggles, trolling the analyst over his disastrous first season while hinting at past comments Gottlieb made about him and his son, Bronny James.

"Earned 2 Not Given! Gotta give him credit though!" James posted with several laughing emojis.

Gottlieb's comments included calling LeBron James a "bad basketball parent" and criticizing how the Lakers treated Bronny, comparing him to a "Make-A-Wish kid." Clearly, those remarks have stuck with him.

James is typically known for taking the high road when it comes to media criticism, rarely clapping back at reporters. However, he has shown a much stronger defensive side when it comes to his son, Bronny, and rightfully so.

Gottlieb, who has been a prominent figure at Fox Sports since joining the network in 2017, has consistently been critical of LeBron over the years on his show.

In 2024, Gottlieb notably doubted that Bronny could even start for Green Bay, despite Bronny being a five-star prospect coming out of high school and committing to USC. Fast forward to today, and Green Bay is one of the worst programs in college basketball.

"He would compete to start," Gottlieb said. "While I like how he moves the ball and defends, he wouldn't be my point guard. My wings are bigger, and without seeing him with us, I think it would be hard for him to start, to be honest."
