Magic Johnson reassured the fans that the Los Angeles Lakers are in strong hands following the $10 billion sale between Mark Walter and the Buss family for the majority ownership of the hallowed franchise.
“Laker fans should be ecstatic. A few things I can tell you about Mark – he is driven by winning, excellence, and doing everything the right way. AND he will put in the resources needed to win,” Johnson posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“I can understand why Jeanie sold the team to Mark Walter because they are just alike – they are competitive people, l have big hearts, love to give back, and both prefer to be behind the scenes. This makes all the sense in the world. I am so so SO happy and excited for @Lakers fans all over the world!!” he concluded.
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, both LeBron James and Luka Doncic are excited about the blockbuster move, which only bodes well for the Los Angeles Lakers moving forward.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had nothing but good things to say about the new Los Angeles Lakers owner Mark Walter. Speaking before the Dodgers-Padres match on Wednesday, Roberts detailed what Walter will bring to the table.
“He wants to win. He feels that the fans, the city deserves that. I think that’s never lost,” Roberts said about Walter via The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya.
With Walter as the controlling owner, the Los Angeles Dodgers won a pair of World Series titles, one in 2020 and another last season. Before the $10 billion sale, Walter had been a stakeholder in the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021.
