Lu Dort has perfect reaction to Hawks trade

Dort, who has spent his entire seven-year career with the Thunder, made All-Defensive First Team, and finished fourth for the Defensive Player of the Year award before helping Oklahoma City to its first title in franchise history in 2025.

Hawks’ reported long-term plans for Lu Dort

After trading with the Thunder for the veteran lockdown defender, the Hawks reportedly have plans to sign Lu Dort to a long-term deal. Dort’s entering the final season of his contract, which is worth $17.2 million for the 2026-27 season.

However, the Hawks plan to ink Dort to a multi-year deal, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

“While Dort is on an expiring $17.22 million contract, the Hawks want to keep the Canadian swingman beyond this upcoming season, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto reported.

Coming off a down year where Dort shooting dipped to a career-low 38.5% field-goal percentage, including his worst 3-point shooting clip (34.4%) in three years, he’ll have to prove himself offensively with the Hawks this upcoming season for the front office to gauge his value before offering his extension.
