The Los Angeles Lakers have sold for an incredible amount of money. Seemingly out of nowhere, the Buss family decided to sell the controlling interest in the Lakers for a reported $10 billion.
It's unclear what this means for how the Lakers will be run. Jeanie Buss is supposed to continue to be the Governor, but everyone saw how that worked out in Dallas with Mark Cuban.
Whoever is in control will be tasked with building a team around Luka Doncic. Doncic is the new face of the franchise after the team executed a trade for him this year.
Doncic is the most important player on the roster, even ahead of LeBron James. Doncic is approaching his prime, so the Lakers need to make sure they build properly around him.
Following the news of the historic sale, Doncic reacted on social media. It's yet another change that he has to deal with in the last four months or so.
The Lakers are an amazing organization. I’m looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and I’m happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them…

"The Lakers are an amazing organization. I’m looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and I’m happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them to win championships!," the post reads.
The Lakers are clearly one of the most valuable franchises in all of sports. Doncic is part of the reason why the Lakers sold for so much because he's expected to help them win a title.
This is something that is out of Doncic's control, so he just has to roll with it. He needs to focus on coming into next season in better shape so that he can play better in the playoffs.

Lakers fans are going to be more interested in how Doncic improves his defense than they are about how he reacts to the sale. Next season, the team shouldn't run any differently.
If Buss is going to continue to be in control, there is no need for anything to change as far as how Doncic should be attacking this offseason. He has to focus on what he can control.
This might change how the Lakers try to build a team around Doncic and James this offseason. A new owner might have some thoughts on how to get that done.
