Luka Doncic says Slovenian team argues but have each other’s backs

Luka Doncic spoke to Slovenian outlet Siol after their win over Italy to advance to the quarterfinal tournament. When discussing the team dynamic, he gave some interesting insight.

Doncic admitted that Slovenia has great team chemistry. However, he did admit that the roster argues with each other on occasion, but they always have each other’s backs.

“Why are we special? Because everyone plays for each other. We get along great, the chemistry is at its peak.

“Sometimes we ‘argue,’ but that’s part of sports – on the court, we just want to help each other. As I said before, all credit to the guys.“

Doncic’s leadership style is apparently one that allows players to have conflicts within the locker room. Given how LeBron James has handled conflicts in the locker room in the past, this could spell disaster for the Lakers.

When talking about his injury status, Doncic said that he will work on things in his time, but he wants to focus on winning their quarterfinal game against Germany.

“Of course, everything hurts, but we’ll do the therapy and it will all be fine. I hope it’ll be okay, we’ll do our best.

“Before the tournament, I already said that we believe and we move forward. Now we face a very tough game against Germany, but we keep going.”

Doncic suffered an injury with Slovenia ahead of the start of the tournament, but it was revealed that it wasn’t serious.

LA Lakers fans will no doubt be concerned about Doncic aggravating his injury further. But given how passionate the star is about representing his country, he won’t take himself out any time soon.
