New York is looking for a new head coach to replace Tom Thibodeau, but is it also in the running for Kevin Durant?
Durant, 36, is a two-time NBA Champion and two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.
The 15-time All-Star, 2014 NBA MVP, four-time scoring champion, and top-10 all-time scorer is looking for a new team in the league after spending 145 games with the Phoenix Suns. Durant spent two full seasons in Phoenix, but this year was awful as the franchise failed to make the playoffs. He averaged 26.6 points per game, yet the Suns are at a rebuilding point.
Magic Johnson, an NBA legend, has a team that would be the perfect fit for Durant.
The five-time NBA Champion stated the Knicks would be ideal for Durant via ESPN. New York made it to the Eastern Conference Finals and enjoyed a second straight 50-win season. The Knicks are relevant for the first time in 25 years; however, its lack of pace allowed Indiana to handle it in the Finals. Johnson believes adding Durant would speed up the Knicks.

“The Knicks are too slow. … Kevin Durant would allow them to get faster and be a guy that can help Brunson in the fourth quarter. … I like Kevin Durant playing with the Knicks. I really do.” pic.twitter.com/eZ3r2AQDIG

“Kevin Durant is an interesting piece,” Johnson said. “The Knicks are too slow. … They are not going to beat Indiana the next year or any of these other teams. They have to get faster and to me, Kevin Durant allows them to get faster. He will also be a guy that can help Jalen Brunson in the fourth quarter. You rely on Brunson so much, but one guy can’t get you there. You have to get him some help. Durant would be a guy on the offensive end that would get you some help. Plus, he is able to put the teams they play against in foul trouble. I like Kevin Durant playing with the Knicks. I really do.”
We will see if New York listens to Johnson and add Durant.
