Malik Beasley is back in Detroit and open to running it back with the Pistons.
According to Robert Snell of The Detroit News, Beasley paid off $38,000 in delinquent rent and has moved back into his apartment. The 6-foot-4 guard, who is still unsigned, remains amenable to re-signing with Detroit for the 2025-26 season.
Beasley’s summer has been clouded by a federal gambling investigation. While he’s no longer considered a “target,” Snell reported he is still viewed as a possible “subject.” That uncertainty has slowed his market.
On the floor, Beasley gave the Pistons everything they could have hoped for last year. He played all 82 games, averaged 16.3 points in under 28 minutes a night, shot 41.6 percent from three, and finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
Detroit went 44-38 and made its first playoff appearance in years, and Beasley’s scoring punch was a big reason why.
The Pistons could bring him back using his Non-Bird rights at up to $7.2 million. For a team that tasted the postseason again and wants more, that might not be the worst money they spend.
He has also been linked to the Cavaliers, Knicks and Timberwolves.
He has spent most of his career as a shooter-for-hire, having played for six teams in nine seasons. The list consists of the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Jazz, Lakers, Bucks and Pistons.
