The 2024-25 season has been one of the best of Malik Beasley's NBA career. The Detroit Pistons had signed Beasley to a one-year, $6 million deal in 2024, and he has played a big role in all of their success this campaign.
Beasley averaged 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.9 steals per game and helped end the Pistons' five-year playoff drought. The 28-year-old's exploits even led to him being a finalist for the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2024-25.
Beasley wouldn't be the one taking home the John Havlicek Trophy, though, as Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard was named the winner. Pritchard won by a landslide, earning 82 first-place votes, compared to just 13 for Beasley.
That would have been a big blow for Beasley, but that wasn't the only one he's suffered this week. The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov shared that the Pistons guard's former agent, Daniel Hazan, has sued him for at least $1 million. Hazan has filed the complaint at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Beasley became a client of Hazan Sports Management in November 2023. The agency alleges that he was paid $650,000 in advance as part of a separate marketing agreement with an agreed-upon term of four years.
Beasley, though, cut ties with HSM just 15 months later in February 2025. He hired Brian Jungreis of Seros Partners as his marketing agent, which led to his former agency crying foul.
Beasley is yet to speak on this matter. We'll see him in action soon enough, with the Pistons taking on the New York Knicks in Game 3 of their first-round series at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
