The Los Angeles Lakers entered Monday night looking for an easy win. They won their last six games over the Sacramento Kings, and this game wouldn’t be any different. Right?
On this night, things would change, thanks to Malik Monk. The Kings haven’t been good this season, as their record entering Monday was just 9-30.
DeMar DeRozan has been one of the only consistent players for the Kings, and against the Lakers, he delivered 32 points and six assists. DeRozan wouldn’t be able to beat LA alone, and on this night, he’d get help.
Former Lakers Russell Westbrook and Monk came up big for the Kings. Westbrook contributed 22 points and seven assists, but the real hero was Monk.
Monk scored 26 points, including 18 in the second quarter. He made seven three-pointers in the game, helping to overcome Luka Doncic’s 42 points and LeBron James’ 22 points.
Sacramento defeated Los Angeles 124-112, which drops LA to 23-11 on the season.
