Dallas Mavericks standout rookie Cooper Flagg is doubtful for Thursday night's game against the visiting Utah Jazz, the second half of a back-to-back.
Flagg sustained a left ankle sprain in the second quarter of Wednesday's 118-109 loss to the Denver Nuggets. He briefly returned to the game later in the quarter but did not play in the second half, finishing with six points in 15 minutes.
The No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Flagg is second on the Mavericks in scoring (18.8) and assists (4.2), leading the team in steals (1.3) and averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. To date, the 19-year-old forward has started 40 of the team's 41 games this season.
The Mavericks, who have lost three of their last four and seven of 10, could be quite depleted for this first of two consecutive games against the Jazz. Four players, including Anthony Davis, have been ruled out. Two, including Flagg, are doubtful and four more are questionable.
