Rozier has been on leave since October, when he was arrested and indicted for his alleged involvement in an illegal sports betting scheme.
Rozier was arrested alongside Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and over 30 other suspects as part of a major sting operation by the FBI.
The 32-year-old guard was arrested for allegedly pulling himself out of a game early while playing for the Charlotte Hornets in 2023. He’s accused of helping a bettor win a $14,000 bet on his unders. After nine minutes of action, Rozier left the game with an injury and this bet cashed out.
He’s also accused of telling his friend, Deniro Laster, that he would leave the game early. Laster allegedly sold that information to bettors.
Rozier was ultimately released on a $3 million bond and pleaded not guilty to charges of wire fraud and money laundering in December.
For the Miami Heat, they now have an extra roster spot available and they have until Sunday to fill that spot before the postseason begins.
