Michael Jordan’s second eldest son Marcus Jordan paid tribute to his mother in celebration of the Black History Month. On his Instagram story, Marcus shared a picture of his mother Juanita Vanoy, MJ’s ex-wife, along with a caption that talked in detail how she raised her children and contributed to the community.
Initially shared on his online sneaker store Trophy Room’s Instagram account, Marcus reshared the post on his personal account.
“Juanita Vanoy’s legacy extends beyond her marriage to Michael Jordan, embodying resilience, independence and philanthropy,” the post read. “As a mother, she instilled hard work, humility and compassion in her three children, guiding them in their diverse careers.”
Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy met for the first time in 1985 through mutual friends. Four years later, the then-couple tied the knot in Las Vegas. They have three children together—sons Jeffrey and Marcus, and daughter Jasmine.
The two divorced in 2006, with Vanoy receiving $168 million in settlements and the former Bulls legend retaining ownership of his Chicago mansion, according to PEOPLE.
The GOAT debate between Michael Jordan and LeBron James will surely be fueled anew with the LA Lakers superstar’s recent achievement. “King James” was recently named the NBA’s Player of the Week in the Western Conference, joining “His Airness” as the only players to receive the honor at age 40 and above.

James and the Lakers had a stellar week, going 3-1 with wins over the Charlotte Hornets, the Washington Wizards, and the New York Knicks and a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. He averaged 27.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 10 assists in that stretch, shooting 53.8% from the field.
Jordan, meanwhile, won the award twice as a member of the Washington Wizards in his final season in the NBA. He first won the award in a four-game stretch from Dec. 20, 2002 to Jan. 4, 2003, averaging 22.3 points, 8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 steals, capping that run with a 41-point performance in a win against the Indiana Pacers.
The second instance that he got the honor was in four games between Feb. 25 to March 2, 2003, when he averaged 24.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
Over that season, the 40-year-old Jordan finished with an average of 20 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals, but he was not successful in leading the Wizards to the playoffs.
