Montrezl Harrell shares ominous tweet, Lakers respond

Los Angeles Lakers big man Montrezl Harrell is in the midst of a very solid campaign with the defending champions.

After he switched over from the Los Angeles Clippers this past offseason, many wondered whether Harrell would regress at all from his Sixth Man of the Year performance in 2019-20. Although his scoring output has dropped this year, he is getting his points on fewer shots and in a more efficient manner. Thus, there hasn’t been a ton of disappointment with Harrell from the Lakers.

Despite that, something seems to be bothering the 27-year-old.

On Tuesday, he posted an extremely ominous message to social media.

Obviously in a time when mental health is at the forefront of many people’s minds, Harrell’s message was extremely alarming.

Shortly thereafter, he offered a follow-up.

Harrell’s messages prompted Lakers owner Jeanie Buss to express concern.

Harrell seemed to be in good spirits earlier in the year. Whether he was bluntly describing the difference between being a Clipper and Laker, or showing off a pair of absolutely hideous shoes, he seemed to be in a good place.

The sudden shift is concerning.

As of Wednesday, Harrell has yet to elaborate on what prompted his original ominous message.
