Multiple Lakers Players Accuse Rockets’ Jae’Sean Tate of 'Cursing Guys Out' as Tensions Flare During Game 4

Game 4 of the first-round playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets featured multiple heated moments and ejections on the court. Recent reports suggest that tensions continued even after the final buzzer.

The action heated up in the third quarter when Deandre Ayton hit his elbow to Alperen Sengun’s face while trying to block a shot, leading to his immediate ejection for a Flagrant 2 foul.

Then, in the closing minutes, rookie Adou Thiero of the Lakers and Aaron Holiday got into a verbal spat in the paint, resulting in both players being ejected after receiving technical fouls. The post-game atmosphere was equally intense.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that several Lakers players claimed Rockets forward Jae’Sean Tate was aggressively cursing at them. To add fuel to the fire, Tate allegedly wanted to confront Maxi Kleber after the final buzzer sounded.

“After the final buzzer, the trash talk continued between both teams at center court. Several Lakers players told ESPN that Rockets forward Jae’Sean Tate was taunting their team, using curse words to name call, and invited the 6-foot-10, 240-pound Kleber to fight him,” Via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

After three straight wins, the Lakers failed to make the same impact in Game 4, with turnovers and ejections contributing to a 96-115 loss that prevented them from securing a 4-0 sweep.

Deandre Ayton on Whether the Lakers Feel Comfortable Holding a 3-1 Lead

Despite entering the series without key players Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, the Lakers have defied expectations, dazzling fans with three consecutive wins. However, following a tough Game 4 loss, questions are swirling: Are the Lakers starting to feel too comfortable with their 3-1 lead? Deandre Ayton stepped up post-game to share his thoughts on the matter.

“Tonight definitely didn’t make us feel comfortable. We’re pretty angry. I’m pretty angry. Honestly, I wish we could play tomorrow. I have a lot of energy now. But we’re gonna go back, watch the film and really turn up our level of intensity a little bit higher. We’ll have our fans out there chanting for us, [it should be] quite a game,” Ayton said.

The Lakers are preparing to take the court for Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against the Rockets at 10:00 PM EDT on April 29th at Crypto.com Arena. Moreover, with the home crowd behind them, this is their chance to shine and close out the series in style. Will they seize the moment and dominate?
