The sister of former LSU basketball star Naz Reid was shot and killed in New Jersey on Saturday morning, according to a report from NBC News. 28-year-old Toraya Reid was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Jackson Township police officers, they responded to calls of shots fired. A 29-year-old man named Shaquille Green, who was later determined to be “in a romantic relationship with Reid,” was taken into custody after attempting to flee the scene.

Green faces charges that include murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was transported to jail and is awaiting a detention hearing.

Reid’s body was found near the exit of an apartment building in Jackson Township, NBC News reports. She was the oldest of three Reid children.

Naz Reid played at LSU for one season, averaging 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during the 2018-19 campaign. He went undrafted but was picked up by the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he developed into a key piece.

Reid won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2024 after scoring 14.2 points per game and pulling down 6.0 rebounds per contest.
