The National Basketball Association's playoff season is here following a regular season rife with controversy and surprising games, trades, blocks, dunks and other plays.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver's league took plenty of heat for the performances of officials, flopping and other controversial player behaviors on the court, and other controversies.

Through it all, the action on the court remained "fantastic" in line with the game's origins as it is seen today by millions of adoring fans.

On Thursday, the league revealed a thrilling video of its top ten dunks of the year, including an unlikely role player at the top of the list for the best dunk of the season.

The video features Keyonte George of the Utah Jazz in the tenth spot, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks in the ninth spot and Ryan Dunn of the Phoenix Suns in the eighth spot.

LeBron James makes an appearance at the fifth spot on the list while the top four includes young players who are still carving out their legacy in the league, including Shaedon Sharpe of the Portland Trail Blazers at number one with a monster throwdown against the Washington Wizards.

Pelicans forward Zion Williamson also makes an appearance at number six with a ferocious left-hand jam that showed what he's capable of as a former number one overall draft pick.
