Bulls

While Josh Giddey hasn’t been visible courtside during Bulls Summer League games, signs point to steady progress in contract negotiations between the NBA restricted free agent and Chicago.

Giddey, who was acquired from the Thunder last summer, played his first season with the Bulls in 2024–25. He was spotted in Las Vegas this past week and reportedly had lunch with head coach Billy Donovan, per ESPN’s Jamal Collier. Giddey’s agent was also expected to meet with team executives during the week.

There’s still a sizable gap in talks, according to Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune. Giddey is said to be seeking a new deal in the $30 million per year range, while the Bulls are aiming closer to $20 million annually. Despite that divide, multiple league sources tell Poe and Collier that both sides expect a deal to get done in due time.

The 22-year-old averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 assists and 5.5 rebounds in 74 games with the Bulls last season.

Suns

With Bradley Beal’s buyout complete and a roster spot now available, the Suns are expected to pursue a guard. But it likely won’t be one with ties to the franchise or former No. 1 pick status.

Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports reported that Chris Paul and De’Anthony Melton are unlikely be courted. Meanwhile, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 added that the team has no interest in Ben Simmons, who remains unsigned after being waived by Brooklyn.

Phoenix is now operating with much more cap flexibility after stretching Beal’s remaining salary, allowing it to explore a range of backcourt options via the mid-level exception or minimum deals.

Hawks

Hawks guard Trae Young has been active this offseason behind the scenes, helping recruit veterans Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard to Atlanta.

Despite that involvement, there have been no serious extension talks between Young and the franchise, according to Marc J. Spears of Andscape. The four-time All-Star has a player option for the 2026-27 season but could enter unrestricted free agency as early as next summer if he chooses to opt out.

Spears noted during an ESPN appearance that Young remains focused on helping the Hawks take the next step with their reshaped roster, but any extension conversations will likely wait until later in the year.
