NBA Rumors: Knicks, Pacome Dadiet, Rockets, Tari Eason, Hawks

Knicks

The Knicks are exploring the trade market for second-year wing Pacome Dadiet, according to The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer.

Multiple sources believe New York started Dadiet in its preseason opener Thursday with the intention of showcasing him for a potential deal.

Trading Dadiet would create space to keep two veteran camp invitees rather than just one. Malcolm Brogdon and Landry Shamet are still viewed as the favorites to stick, but Fischer reports Garrison Mathews is getting legitimate consideration for a roster spot.

Because of their similar skill sets, Mathews would be more likely to push Shamet than Brogdon if the Knicks keep him.

Rockets

The Rockets would prefer to lock in an extension with Tari Eason before turning their attention to a new deal for Kevin Durant, Fischer writes.

The thinking is that securing Eason’s number first gives the front office a clearer cap picture before committing to the 15-time All-Star.

Fischer adds that an Eason extension would likely span four years, with the annual salary projected to be lower than the $24.4 million per year Jabari Smith Jr. landed earlier this offseason.

Hawks

There’s “some distance” between the Hawks and Dyson Daniels in the early stages of rookie scale extension talks, per Fischer.

Daniels is coming off a breakout season that saw him win Most Improved Player and finish second in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Understandably, he’s expected to seek a sizable payday on his next deal.
