The Oklahoma City Thunder are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012 as they begin the series on Thursday night at home against the Indiana Pacers.
Oklahoma City has been the best team in the NBA all season after finishing the regular season with the best record in the league and then dominating their way to the NBA Finals.
Of course, the Thunder swept their way past the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round before the Denver Nuggets pushed them to seven games in the second round.
They were then able to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games in the Western Conference Finals, securing their spot in the NBA Finals as they try to win their first championship since the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City.
The Thunder have been led by their star trio of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren this season and while they will receive most of the credit, and deservedly so, the rest of Oklahoma City’s roster has also played a huge role in their success.
One player that has been a perfect addition to the roster is Alex Caruso who the Thunder acquired from the Chicago Bulls in the offseason in exchange for Josh Giddey.
On Monday, the NBA sent a message regarding Caruso as he prepares for his second NBA Finals appearance.
“Alex Caruso is the only Thunder player with previous NBA Finals experience, having won a championship with the (Los Angeles) Lakers in 2019-20,” the NBA posted on X.

The NBA also mentioned in their post that Caruso began his pro career with the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G League affiliate, in 2016-17 where he played under now Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault.
Caruso has been a key piece for the Thunder off the bench this season thanks to his defensive intensity and scoring ability.
With Caruso being the only Thunder with NBA Finals experience, they will also lean on him as a leader, which he has done an incredible job of this season.
