The New York Knicks are being asked to make one young star available for a trade, as several teams have interest in him.
The New York Knicks are looking to make a trade before the start of the NBA season to open up another roster spot.
The Knicks signed both Malcolm Brogdon and Landry Shamet to training camp deals, but only have the roster and cap space to sign one of them, unless they make a trade.
As things stand, the Knicks are considering Pacomet Dadiet, even playing him big minutes in preseason as a sample for interested teams.
Interestingly, it isn’t Dadiet, but another young Knicks star, who has attracted trade interest from other teams ahead of the new season.
Ian Begley spoke to Knicks Film Room’s Jonathan Macri for a recent podcast episode. When discussing potential trade prospects, Miles McBride’s name came up.
Begley revealed that the Knicks have gotten a lot of interest from other teams for McBride, but they see a lot of value in the young star.
“Miles McBride has got the most value, if you’re looking at what the Knicks could or couldn’t do in the trade market. He’s got high very high value.
“Teams are waiting for the Knicks to really make him available in a serious way. It hasn’t happened as of last week.
“I know that key stakeholders in New York see him as an important part of what they want to do this year. We’ve seen it in the preseason; he’s played pretty well.
“I think the speculation is moreso based on his value and what else the Knicks would have to move in order to make that room under the second apron for Landry Shamet and Malcolm Brogdon…
“It’s not real, in terms of what they may or may not do, to this point.”

As things stand, the Knicks have ruled out a Miles McBride trade. They want to hold on to the young star as he can deliver for them.
For his part, McBride made his desire to stay with the Knicks very clear, even saying that he wants to play with them for life.
As things stand, the Knicks are better off trading Pacomet Dadiet, as he clears up enough cap space for them to sign the two veterans and another star later in the season.
But there isn’t much of a chance of them trading McBride before the start of the season, and that might be the best decision they can make.
