NBC Sports is adding more star power to its NBA coverage, bringing in Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady as a studio analyst for the 2025-26 season. The network made the announcement via press release, further solidifying its revamped basketball broadcast lineup ahead of its return as an NBA media rights partner.
McGrady, 45, was one of the league’s most electric scorers during his 16-year playing career. A seven-time All-Star and two-time scoring champion, he now returns to television after previous stints with ESPN and TNT Sports.
He’ll join a studio crew that already features some familiar faces — including cousin and fellow Hall of Famer Vince Carter, and 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony. Maria Taylor and Ahmed Fareed will anchor NBC’s NBA studio programming, with Michael Jordan also slated to appear periodically as a “special contributor,” according to the network.
“Tracy has performed at the highest level both on and off the court and has already demonstrated his ability to deliver his unique perspective on air,” said Sam Flood, executive producer at NBC Sports. “Whether paired with Carmelo, Vince, or both, we’re excited to see how this team of Hall of Famers comes together and breaks down the game.”
This marks NBC’s second major personnel move in under a week. Last week, the network announced a deep bench of new game analysts, including Derek Fisher, Austin Rivers, Brad Daugherty, Robbie Hummel, and Brian Scalabrine.
NBC previously held NBA broadcast rights from 1990 to 2002 and is now gearing up for its first season back in the mix as part of the league’s new media rights deal. With McGrady’s addition, the network continues to lean into big names with big résumés.
