Nets GM Sean Marks Received The Best Birthday Gift
Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Today has been a very big day for the Brooklyn Nets.

After months of countless headlines, speculation, rumors, and buzz, Kevin Durant decided to stick around with the team for yet another season.

This was not the outcome many expected as Durant had repeatedly made it clear that he wanted out of Brooklyn ASAP.

But cooler heads prevailed and Durant will once again play for the Nets when the new season begins.

That was a huge win for the team and a major victory for General Manager Sean Marks as well.

It just so happened to occur on his birthday.

Yes, Marks was born on August 23, 1975.

That means that he is turning 47 on the very same day that his team officially retains its biggest player.

Happy birthday indeed.

Marks Making It Happen

For a brief moment, it appeared as if Durant would return but Marks would not.

Inside reports stated that Durant told the Nets that they’d have to either get rid of him or Marks and head coach Steve Nash – all three of them could not work together, Durant claimed.

Well, that isn’t the case anymore as all three are returning for the new season with a newly-committed drive to make it far into the playoffs.

Marks stood his ground, as did the rest of the Nets organization.

They didn’t budge and they didn’t give into Durant’s demands.

In the end, they came out victorious.

Now the team is once again preparing to get the best out of Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the rest of the team.

It’s been a long, tiring summer but it’ll all be worth it for the squad if they can become a true force in the Eastern Conference.
