New Guard Emerges for Suns’ Final Roster Spot
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Just before the deadline, the Detroit Pistons agreed to a contract buyout with guard Shake Milton, introducing a new name to watch for the Suns’ final roster spot.

While Phoenix could consider Saben Lee to fulfill their backup point guard needs, Milton offers additional height and a more consistent shooting performance.

This season, spanning his time with the Timberwolves and Pistons, Milton has maintained an average of 4.9 points per game with a shooting percentage of .403.

However, in the previous year with the 76ers, he averaged 20 minutes and 8.4 points on .479 shooting. Milton even garnered some 6th Man of the Year votes in 2021, having averaged 13 points per game that season.

According to Shams Charania, multiple postseason contenders are expected to pursue Milton in free agency.

Presently, the Suns have predominantly relied on Devin Booker to shoulder the responsibilities at the point guard position. Saben Lee, though officially a backup point guard, has only averaged 7.7 minutes per game.

Stay tuned for further updates.
