New Lakers Make Impact Despite Loss to Cavs

Although the Lakers fell to the league-leading Cavaliers (122-110), new additions Shake Milton and Dorian Finney-Smith showed real promise on Tuesday night. Milton is still adjusting to his new role; however, he made an immediate impact Tuesday, draining his first two three-pointers. Meanwhile, Dorian Finney-Smith posted a plus-7 rating in 20 minutes of action.

Post-game, Milton embraced his Lakers debut, speaking excitedly about his role:

"Walking into the tunnel and stepping onto the court brings a wave of excitement... But once the game starts, it morphs back into just basketball. Once I check in and start running up and down the court, it feels right."

The backup guard focused on finding ways to contribute against a tough Cleveland squad:

"I felt good out there, looking for ways to impact the team, whether it's creating floor spacing, setting screens, or contributing defensively... Those instincts will come naturally as I continue to learn where my teammates prefer to operate."

Though disappointed by the loss, Milton remained positive about draining his first triple in purple and gold:

"Honestly, I didn't get to process it at all in the moment... My mindset is all about the next play. However, it was pretty cool to hit that shot."

Despite Tuesday's outcome, the Lakers' latest additions managed to demonstrate their potential long-term value. Milton's shooting touch and Finney-Smith's steady play suggest that both could become key rotation pieces as they grow more comfortable in their roles.

While Finney-Smith's role as a 3-and-D wing appears clear, Milton's backup guard position may take time to develop. Rob Pelinka and the front office will evaluate how both newcomers integrate with the team before considering additional moves to bolster their championship aspirations.
