The New Orleans Pelicans signed Forward Herb Jones to a three-year $68 million contract extension this evening. He has five years and $97 million left on his Pelicans deal with a player option for the 2029-30 season. Jones was limited to 20 games during the 2024-25 regular season because of a shoulder injury. He was another one of the team’s marquee players injured last season. He averaged 10.9 points, 3.9 boards, and 3.3 assists during his time on the floor. How will Jones play with the New Orleans Pelicans going forward?

New Orleans is looking to rebound from a miserable regular season. The team’s marquee move this offseason was trading for mercurial Guard Jordan Poole a few weeks ago. New Orleans also drafted Jeremiah Fears No. 7 overall and Derik Queen 13th overall.
The New Orleans Pelicans have a talented roster on paper, anchored by Zion Williamson , but it must translate to success on the hardwood. Dejounte Murray is also a talented player. As is the case with many players on the roster, health is their biggest concern.
Jones is a solid signing for a New Orleans Pelicans team hoping to get back on track. He will be Williamson’s backup and look to play a full season. If Jones can remain on the court, he can contribute during the upcoming season.
