The New Orleans Pelicans appeared to have chosen a side in the ongoing beef  between Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith.

The saga involving the two personalities has taken a life of its own, seemingly becoming an even larger story than any narrative within the NBA at the moment.

The Pelicans decided to add to the fun of it with a hilarious throwback on social media on Thursday, as they dug up an old post on X (formerly Twitter) to troll Smith.

“good day to bump this,” the Pelicans captioned the re-share of a video that showed a montage of clips showing some of Smith’s not-so-proud moments while the audio of his infamous diatribe about Kwame Brown plays in the background.

Now that the Pelicans are no longer in contention for a spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, they can find external reasons to make the remaining days of their campaign interesting – like joining in the viral beef involving James and Smith.

The Pelicans only have 20 wins through 73 games thus far. They are likely to finish the season with the second-worst record in the Western Conference with no upside. They are just four games ahead of bottom-dwellers Utah Jazz and 11.5 games behind the nearest team above them in the Western Conference standings.
