New Report on Jrue Holiday’s Feelings After Celtics Trade

The Boston Celtics knew they had to get under the NBA's second tax apron this offseason, so they traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers. While the trade helped save the Celtics money, Heavy's Steve Bulpett reported that Holiday was "pissed" about being sent to Portland.

“Now, if he winds up staying there, I’m sure he’ll be the professional he’s always been and make a positive contribution,” a source told Bulpett. “But he’s not happy with this deal. I’ll be surprised if Portland doesn’t move him on if they can, because right now he does not want to go there."

The Trail Blazers aren't a contender, but they are far from the worst team in the league. It will be a change of pace for Holiday, who has spent the last five seasons playing for teams vying for a title with the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.

However, it appears Holiday taking issue with the trade may not have been the case after all. The Oregonian's Aaron J. Fentress refuted that Holiday was unhappy with the trade.

"Two NBA sources have now told me that the report claiming guard Jrue Holiday is unhappy with being traded to the Blazers is untrue," Fentress wrote. "We will all find out from him in due time."

Holiday will enter the second year of a four-year, $134.4 million contract extension he signed with the Celtics last year. Whether he's happy or not, he will still be paid handsomely as he approaches his late 30s.
