Former NBA player Jeremy Lin bids farewell to the game of basketball.
Despite going undrafted during the 2010 NBA Draft, Jeremy Lin managed to carve out a nine-year career in the league.
In fact, Lin remains a legend among fans for his phenomenal ‘Linsanity Run’ with the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 season.
This was undoubtedly the peak of his career as Lin last played in the NBA during the 2018-19 season before recently announcing his retirement.
While the 37-year-old played in just 35 games for the Knicks, he remains an iconic figure among the franchise’s fanbase.
Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Lin’s retirement post on his Instagram channel was acknowledged by the organization.
“Congrats! Once a Knick, always a Knick,” the team’s official handle wrote on Instagram.
The Knicks have shown a great sign of respect to Lin, who even urged then-head coach Mike D’Antoni to never make him a starter.
Lin averaged 14.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game for the Knicks while shooting 44.6% from the field.
After his nine-year run in the NBA, Lin had been playing in China and Taiwan. Despite that, Lin held a spot in the hearts of former and current NBA players.
“You’re a living legend fr. Linsanity is forever! Enjoy this next phase of life fam,” Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns wrote.
“Congrats, my man! Proud to know ya!” NBA legend Dominique Wilkins added.
“Congratulations, brother,” Miami Heat’s Norman Powell stated.
“Congratulations on a helluva career, Champ!” Ex-San Antonio Spurs and LA Lakers guard Danny Green wrote.
Many more influential figures from across industries shared their thoughts on Lin’s retirement as he begins the next chapter of his life.
