Nikola Jokic made NBA history in the Denver Nuggets’ latest win over the Orlando Magic.

Nikola Jokic officially became the all-time assist leader for centers.

He now has 5,667 total assists in his career and passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5,660 assists) in the second quarter against the Orlando Magic.

Jokic accomplished this incredible feat in 789 fewer games than Abdul-Jabbar, as the 30-year-old’s new record will be untouchable by the time he is done playing.

Jokic not only made history on Thursday night, but he also led the Denver Nuggets to victory with another triple-double performance of 23 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.

He now has 177 career regular-season triple-doubles and only trails Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook on the leaderboard.

Nikola Jokic is one step closer to becoming the GOAT center

Jokic continues to make a case for being the greatest center of all time.

Last year during an appearance on First Things First on Fox Sports 1, the great Shaquille O’Neal, who many people have as the GOAT center, ranked Jokic ahead of him

“I wouldn’t put myself in there. But people judge talent in many ways. Stats, of course, are one of them, and championships are one of them.

“He has one. If he gets into the three-championship realm, he’ll be on that list.

“He’s on that list for me. I wouldn’t put myself on that list. You always gotta count the guys who made me who I am: Kareem, Mr. Chamberlain, and Mr. Russell.”

Jokic has many accolades to his name already, including winning an NBA title, being a three-time MVP and a Finals MVP during the Nuggets’ 2023 championship run.

With plenty of years remaining in his career, Jokic has the chance to further solidify his legacy with a few more championships and accomplishments.

Jokic could soon be crowned the greatest center ever and even be in the greatest player of all time conversation.
