Tensions boil over in the Nuggets-Timberwolves playoff clash, as Nikola Jokic’s fierce reaction to Jaden McDaniels’ late-game layup.
The Denver Star addressed the incident, offering a blunt and unapologetic perspective on what unfolded.
In a post-match interview, when asked, “Why were you so upset with McDaniels’ layup?. Jokic answered, “Because he scored when everybody stopped playing. Com’on guys you saw it, what happened?!”

This is often called breaking an “unwritten rule” in basketball, and Jokic didn’t take it lightly. Jokic went after McDaniels right after the play, which led to a short fight and a lot of ejections.
McDaniels scored in the last few seconds of Game 4 of the Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, April 25, 2026, even though the game was basically over.
Jokic also stated, “I do not regret,” when asked about his confrontation with McDaniels.
When asked about it, “Yeah,” suggesting that he believes such situations call for sportsmanship rather than stat-padding.
The late-game basket sparked an immediate on-court scuffle that led to multiple ejections. Jokic pushed McDaniels near the Timberwolves bench, which led to a fight between the two teams.
With only 1.3 seconds left, Julius Randle jumped in and went after Jokic. Both players were ejected, and the Nuggets lost 96-112, making their record in the series 1-3.
The ejections were only the beginning; now the NBA is getting involved, and the Nuggets’ season could be in danger.
The Denver Nuggets are already down 3-1 in the series, and now they have an even bigger problem: the NBA is looking into the fight that happened on Saturday night, and Nikola Jokic’s availability for Game 5, which they must win, is in doubt.
Before the game starts in Denver on Monday night, the league should make a decision. Time is running out.
ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news on X: “The NBA investigation is underway into the Denver Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves scuffle Saturday night, including interviews with involved players and officials and review of the footage, sources tell ESPN. Rulings are expected before Game 5 on Monday night in Denver.”
The timing couldn’t be worse for the Nuggets, who are already hurt. Aaron Gordon is dealing with a calf problem, and Peyton Watson is still out with a hamstring problem.
In Game 4, Jokic scored 24 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and dished out nine assists.
But in the fourth quarter, he went completely cold and missed all six of his shot attempts as Minnesota’s length and defensive pressure took over.
