Nikola Jokic has continued to perform at an elite level, showing no signs of slowing down, now playing in his 11th season as a member of the Denver Nuggets. The 30-year-old Serbian center is off to a strong start once again, and he has led Denver to a 9–2 record despite the group experiencing growing pains and injury setbacks.
Jokic remains a frontrunner for NBA MVP once again, as he has taken home the award three times over the past five years. Throughout his first 11 appearances, Jokic has posted 28.8 points, 13.1 rebounds, 10.9 assists and 1.8 steals while shooting an incredibly efficient 68.4% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc.
Unfortunately for Denver, Jokic’s availability has become a concern heading into Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Nuggets announced their official injury report, and Jokic appeared on it for the first time this year with a left wrist sprain. He received a questionable designation for the game on Saturday (h/t Bennett Durando of the Denver Post).
In addition to Christian Braun being out at least six weeks, Nuggets have ruled Cam Johnson out for tomorrow’s game at Minnesota with a right bicep strain.

Nikola Jokic is questionable with left wrist sprain. It’s the right wrist that has bothered him off-and-on over the years.
This is the first time Jokic’s left wrist has bothered him, and his previous injuries have been on his right wrist. His status will continue to be monitored as updates surface on the setback.
Jokic’s availability becoming a concern is truly troubling for a Nuggets group that has experienced numerous injuries already. Both Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray have popped up on the injury report recently, and both missed a game last Saturday against the Indiana Pacers.
During Thursday’s win against the Los Angeles Clippers, it came at a cost, as Christian Braun suffered a right ankle injury sidelining him for at least six weeks. Cameron Johnson also left with a biceps strain and has already been ruled out for Saturday’s game as well. Although both players operate in the backcourt, the Nuggets need Jokic with their depth depleted.
Jokic continues to be the engine that makes Denver go. He is a seven-time All-Star and seven-time All-NBA selection, and his ability to control the pace, create for others and dominate in the post makes him one of the most complete players in the league.
His vision, touch and feel for the game are unmatched at his position. The Nuggets have title aspirations again this year, and Jokic’s health is crucial to that. He already proved in 2023 that he is capable of taking them the distance and winning an NBA Finals. If he stays on the floor, Denver has every reason to believe it can do it again.
