Nuggets Make Official Coaching Announcement After Firing Michael Malone

Enough is enough in the Mile High City.

The Denver Nuggets have been mediocre this season, even with a 47-31 record. With four games remaining, they are the No. 4 seed with a half-game lead over the No. 8 seed.

Nikola Jokic has been more than brilliant, posting a career-best record, somehow, after capturing the MVP trophy in three of the past four seasons.

Along the way, Jokic led the Nuggets to a title in 2023. Still, the club has been unable to manage a team around the Serbian superstar capable of making another title run.

On Tuesday, ownership must have had enough, as they fired head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth in a surprising string of moves, as ESPN's Shams Charania reported.

"The Denver Nuggets are also firing general manager Calvin Booth," Charania reported. "Michael Malone and Booth both out today."

The Nuggets had a plan in place, though, as it didn't take long for the club to make an official coaching announcement.

"The Denver Nuggets have relieved Head Coach Michael Malone of his duties and will not extend General Manager Calvin Booth," the Nuggets announced. "David Adelman will assume our head coaching role for the remainder of the 2024-25 season."

To make such a strong decision with just four regular season games remaining, the Nuggets must be quite confident in Adelman's ability to lead the team.

Again, Jokic is having a career-best season, though the squad has been unable to properly support him to be a title-contending team.

All eyes will be on Denver moving forward, as many will be eager to see how they fare after firing two key members of the organization at such a staggering time.
