Tyrese Haliburton had a playoff run for the ages with the Indiana Pacers.
Haliburton produced many magical moments, propelling the Pacers to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000.
The 25-year-old had four game-winning shots during the Pacers’ 2025 playoff run.
He made a series-clinching layup in overtime against the Milwaukee Bucks. Then he made a game-winning stepback three against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Followed by a game-tying jumper at the buzzer against the New York Knicks. And then he drilled a game-winning jumper with 0.3 seconds left in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Unfortunately, Haliburton’s playoff magic ran out when he suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, which the Thunder won to capture the championship.
Another player who knows a thing or two about game-winning, clutch shots is Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry.
Curry is a four-time NBA Champion and is regarded as the greatest three-point shooter of all-time.
He’s also regarded as the greatest human being in the NBA, according to Haliburton.
Haliburton was on The Young Man and The Three podcast and had high praise for Curry.
“Steph is the greatest human being I’ve met in basketball.
“I’ve never met a better person. The thing about it is I’ve never heard anybody say anything bad about Steph as a human being.
“He is so unbelievable the way that he remembers people. He cares about people. I just can’t say enough good things about Steph,” he added.
“And then like through the Olympic experience, I didn’t play a ton obviously, so it was a lot for me to learn and pick guys brains, and Steph was just that guy for me.
“Always after every practice I’m like, ‘I got to work out with Steph, like I got to do what he’s doing and take things from him’.
“If he was on the other end of the gym [he was] like come on Ty like we’re going to work out,” he continued.
“When we play every time play Golden State, if it’s there or if it’s here, we’re going to get we’re going to get dinner. We’re going to hang out, spend some time together.”
The Pacers are expected to take a significant step back this season, with Haliburton set to miss the entire 2025-26 season as he continues to rehab from his torn Achilles injury.
Indiana also lost Myles Turner in free agency, who left the Pacers and signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in a shocking move.
The Pacers still have three-time All-Star Pascal Siakam and their young guns Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin who are poised for a big year.
The Pacers could still be competitive with their depth, but they will most likely be closer to a play-in spot than a playoff spot this season.
