Paul Pierce was at it again on Thursday making another ridiculous claim.

The former Boston Celtics star was talking on FS1 show “Speak” about LeBron James labeling Kevin Durant as the “most equipped” scorer in NBA history. Pierce didn’t like that and decided to toot his own horn.

“I was probably the best pure scorer ever in the history of the NBA,” Pierce said. “I was pretty equipped. I need to be in this conversation. 3-point contest champ, all of that, post-ups. I must have been one of the most equipped.”

Pierce acknowledged Durant is an excellent and efficient scorer. He attributed much of that success to Durant’s height at 6-foot-11 on the perimeter. He feels Durant’s height enables him to get open looks on the outside.

“There’s nobody at his height on the perimeter,” Pierce said of KD.

“Shoot, you gotta put me in that talk when we talk about most equipped scorers now,” Pierce said.

Pierce, 47, is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was a 10-time All-Star and an NBA Finals MVP. He averaged 19.7 points per game during his career, and peaked with 26.8 points per game in 2006. Pierce was a great player, which is why he’s in the Hall of Fame. But to put himself ahead of someone like Michael Jordan when it comes to being an equipped scorer is ridiculous.

He frequently gets himself into these debates by inserting himself into the discussion. You may recall that he did something similar when it came to a debate about Dwyane Wade.
