The New York Knicks are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
The legendary Madison Square Garden has waited nearly three decades to host another NBA Finals game, and the next one will feature quite the high-profile guest.
According to a report by Matt Ehalt and Larry Celona of The New York Post, President Donald Trump plans to attend Game 3.
Trump, a Knicks fan, had already hinted at potentially pulling up.
"President Trump is planning to attend Game 3 of the Knicks-Spurs series on June 8 at Madison Square Garden, sources told The Post, although there’s always the chance plans change," read the report. "MSG performed security walkthroughs in preparation for his potential visit, according to the sources."
New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani also acknowledged he intended to attend the game, though he's not expected to sit with President Trump.
Mamdani was already there in the Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers, though, unlike most of the high-profile characters in attendance, he wasn't courtside.
The Knicks will be looking to win their first championship since 1973 and the third in franchise history.
They'll have to get past a sturdy and up-and-coming San Antonio Spurs team that will look to emulate what Gregg Popovich's troop did the last — and only — time they've met on basketball's biggest stage.
And, just like in every game at Madison Square Garden with all the celebrities in attendance, all eyes won't be just on the hardwood.
