LeBron James got everyone talking when he posted a teaser video on his social media accounts revealing that he will be making ‘the decision of all decisions’ on October 7th.
LeBron James is calling it the ‘Second Decision’ as he has a big announcement planned for everyone.
Since posting the video, fans have speculated what James’ announcement could be with retirement seeming likely.
James is 40 years old and will turn 41 in December. He is set to become the first player in NBA history to play in 23 seasons.
While all arrows point to James announcing his retirement, there’s a chance it could end up being something else.
James has made sponsorship announcements in the past so this could be another ad.
James has been a major part of the Amazon Prime Day 2025 campaign and his announcement will take place on Amazon’s Prime Day.
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne doesn’t think James will be announcing his retirement.
“We all saw this and thought ‘whoa is he announcing something?’… Just from vibes, texts, I don’t know if we should get all worked up about it. He did this earlier in the summer and it ended up being an ad.”
Even though James is about to become 41 years old, he is still playing at an All-Star level.
It remains a mystery why James keeps playing at his age, but his numbers remain good enough where he can help the Los Angeles Lakers compete for a championship.
James averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds for the Lakers last season and his numbers aren’t expected to drastically fall off.
If James does continue to play, this could be his last season with the Lakers as he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
