Raptors Rumors: Chris Boucher Linked To Spurs & Nuggets

Chris Boucher could be on the move ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.

The Toronto Raptors big man has been a hot name on the rumor mill. He has been linked to the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets by Matt Moore of FanSided:

“Two teams interested in Toronto’s Chris Boucher (who has a very quiet 6th Man of the Year case) are San Antonio and Denver. The Spurs are ready to upgrade their non-Wemby minutes at center, and Denver desperately needs more rotation players.”

The Spurs have more financial flexibility so they seem like a prime spot for Boucher. The Spurs also have a second-round pick in this year’s draft which is something that could be of value to the Raptors.

The Raptors were reportedly trying to move Boucher at last season’s trade deadline but they were unsuccessful when it came to finding a suitor for the forward.

Boucher is currently on a $10.8 million expiring contract so a trade seems more likely.

For the Nuggets a deal seems harder to pull off because they don’t have many tradable mid-range contracts.

Boucher has been playing well as of late so he’s someone who could receive a lot of interest from contending teams. He has played in 37 games this season, averaging 10.4 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 35.9 percent from beyond the arc. That three point shooting would be value from off the bench. Although he been in and out of the Raptors rotation, the 32-year-old is someone who could a high energy forward from off the bench.

The trade deadline is set for Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. ET so it will be interesting to see if a Boucher trade materializes before then.
