According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Philadelphia 76ers are not expected to trade Joel Embiid or Paul George this offseason.

Embiid, George and Tyrese Maxey only played in 15 games together this season.

“By simply staying at No. 3, Philadelphia would introduce an $11.1 million salary onto its books for 2025-26,” Stein and Fischer wrote. “So the Sixers expect to operate near (or maybe even above) the second apron for this upcoming campaign, sources say, as they prepare to give Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey another shot to try to contend for a championship after they managed to appear in just 15 games (7-8) together this season.”

The Sixers went 24-58 this season, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

George struggled in his first season with the Sixers after signing a lucrative four-year, $211 million contract with the franchise last summer. The veteran averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists this season in 41 games.

Meanwhile, Embiid appeared in only 19 games this season. He averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists. The former MVP underwent arthroscopic left knee surgery in April.

Philadelphia has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs in the Embiid era. Embiid has played with Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, James Harden, Maxey and George.
