Report: Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. to miss four to six weeks with knee injury
The Chicago Bulls are still in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 27-12 record despite falling to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. They'll have to continue for the foreseeable future without a player who has been a member of their starting lineup since the calendar flipped to 2022, though.
Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. has suffered a bone bruise in his right knee and is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Jones avoided structural damage to the knee after going down in the opening seconds of Wednesday night’s game vs. Nets.

Of his 31 games played this season, Jones Jr. has started eight of them, including each of the last six. Prior to their loss against the Nets, the Bulls had won 10 of their last 11.
Jones Jr. is in his sixth NBA season and first with Chicago after being acquired as part of a three-team trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Portland Trail Blazers on Aug. 28, 2021. He's averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 17.2 minutes per contest while posting a .582/.405/.848 shooting line.
Jones Jr.'s field goal, three-point and free throw percentages are all career-bests.
The Bulls will next play at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday against the Golden State Warriors.
