According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, the Boston Celtics could trade Anfernee Simons.
The Celtics acquired Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers in the Jrue Holiday deal.
“I think players like Sam Hauser, Anfernee Simons, we could see potentially being discussed even more,” Charania said on the Pat McAfee Show.
Simons will make $27.7 million next season in the final year of his contract.
The Celtics may not be a contender next season since Jayson Tatum could miss the entire campaign recovering from his Achilles injury.
The Celtics traded Holiday to the Trail Blazers and Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks. The two All-Stars helped Boston win the 2024 championship agianst the Dallas Mavericks.
Simons appeared in 70 games for the Trail Blazers in 2024-25. He averaged 19.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 42.6% from the field, 36.3% from beyond the arc and 90.2% from the free-throw line.
The 26-year-old Simons was the 24th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He has career averages of 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
The Celtics are receiving offers for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. However, neither player is expected to be traded this offseason.
