Report: Grizzlies waive recently acquired veteran Dion Waiters

Dion Waiters’ tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies was short lived. Just a few days after being acquired from the Miami Heat in the blockbuster Andre Iguodala trade, Waiters has been waived by Memphis.

The Grizzlies have waived guard Dion Waiters, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Waiters will receive his pay for the remainder of this season and $12.6M in 2020-21.

Waiters, 28, has suited up in just three games this season. He was mired in a drama-filled relationship with Miami prior to the trade.

Though, it would not be a surprise if he latched on with a contending team. The former first-round pick averaged 12.0 points and 38 percent shooting from distance a season ago.
